I was extremely bad at resting

I came to restorative yoga as a sceptic and a poor candidate. I had two jobs, a running habit, and a firm belief that lying on the floor was for people with more time than me.

What changed my mind was not a retreat or an epiphany. It was a physiotherapist pointing out, fairly bluntly, that I had been injured four times in two years and that all four had happened during stretches when I was sleeping badly.

Idalago is a small room with a great many bolsters. Classes are quiet, warm and dimly lit. You will be given more props than you think you need, and that is deliberate — the body only lets go when it is completely supported.

Come if you are tired in a way that sleep has stopped fixing.
